MUEV is proud to offer the latest line of Motorino™ electric scooters.
These amazing machines qualify under US laws as electric assist bicycles. That means they don’t need a license or insurance and can be ridden anywhere a normal bicycle is ridden (yes, that means bike trails!) unless your area has specific laws against them (Boulder for one).
There are many other companies offering electric assist bikes. MUEV chose Motorino™ because they have created a revolutionary CCT electric gearing system that provides these bikes with unprecedented power, torque and efficiency lacking in other company’s products.
What makes Motorino™ electric scooters different than others?
US law allows bicycles (anything with two wheels and working pedals) with an electric motor of 750W or less to carry the same rights and privileges as a normal bicycle (ie. no license, can use bike trails, etc).
If you’ve ever ridden an electric assist bicycle, you’d know that they can be a lot of fun, but the power restrictions result in motors that don’t seem to have the juice needed to make it up hills or adverse terrain.
The problem lies in how Brushless DC motors (BLDC) work. There have always been two options- a hub motor with one gear or a side motor with physical gearing.
The hub motor is designed to operate at an optimum speed. Say you’re trying to go up a steep hill and your speed drops. As the road speed decreases the controller tries to compensate by providing higher current. This only lowers the motors efficiency and can cause overheating.
A side motor with gearing seeks to overcome this problem by shifting gears to maintain the optimum speed. The problem with gearing is friction, which lowers efficiency and raises maintenance.
The solution, which Motorino™ is in the process of patenting, is an ingenious electronic gearing called CCT (Continuous Current Transmission). This keeps the motor running at optimum speed without any friction.
The result is torque when you need it, speed when you need it and maintenance free reliability.
The New Motor
MOTORINO™ motors can outperform standard brushless hub or brushless geared motors. Wider and thicker magnets are driven by custom windings to produce 35% more torque than other 500Watt and 750Watt LEV motors. Those windings are sequenced by our new CCT controller- a durable governor which applies power and torque when necessary, while conserving battery reserves when possible. Satisfying American regulations for power-assisted bicycle motors, our MOTORINO DC Brushless Hub motors can climb steeper and longer hills while carrying heavier loads than any competitor.
CCT™ Motors and Controllers are available on the new XPh, XPa and XPc models.
The CCT Gears
The CCT controller has three electronic gears; each presets a maximum speed for the bike. The controller provides power at different frequencies for each gear. To increase torque it provides impulses to the rotor for longer periods at the same current instead of increasing the current over a short period of time, as in a single speed motor. This is why we call the system a Continuous Current Transmission. The rider can change between these three gears on the fly. GREENWIT TECHNOLOGIES Inc. is now working on CCT controller that will change gears electronically and automatically depending on the road conditions.
