The world is in pretty rough shape these days. The driving factors can be summed up as greed, consumption and dependence. The culprit is a global capitalist system designed and dependent on infinite growth. Unfortunately, we live on a planet with finite resources. At some point, there is a “limit to growth” in any resource constrained environment. The summer of ‘08 showed us what happens when demand begins to exceed capable supply.
Moving forward, we must choose our path wisely and pick options best for both the short and long term.
Electric powered transportation is one such option. The technology is here today. The fuel source (electricity) can be produced from the sun, the wind, the earth, the water, and if needed, nuclear and coal. The efficiency far surpasses internal combustion and hydrogen engines. The vehicles themselves produce zero emissions. Their energy storage systems can double as spare electricity storage for your home/RV or earn you money while it’s parked in a smart grid area.
There are very few moving parts and practically no maintenance. The electricity cost is a fraction of gasoline (even at $1/gallon, let alone $5). The motors are small, clean and whisper quite; yet the torque and acceleration are off the charts amazing.
What’s the catch, you ask? Batteries.
Battery technology has improved greatly over the last decade. It promises to improve by leaps and bounds over the coming decade. The performance of today’s batteries is getting close to a gasoline powered vehicle. The issue is cost.
A full size electric vehicle with a state-of-the-art battery pack capable of powering a car at highway speeds for distances that people want will cost from $60K-120K. While that price point is fine with some lucky individuals, the majority of Americans are left standing on the sidelines.
MUEV believes that electric vehicles can and should be available for everyone. Luckily, today’s batteries are perfectly capable of powering lighter forms of transportation, specifically anything on two wheels, at speeds and distances acceptable for much of one’s daily needs.
We say, keep your old gas burnin’ car or truck. You just won’t want to use it much once you have any of our great products.
Sincerely,
